About Noncredit English as a Second Language
Noncredit ESL courses are designed for non-native English-speaking students who want to effectively read, write, listen to, and speak the English language. These skills will help students to bridge the gap from survival communication skills to adequate competency for functioning in an English-speaking work and school environment.
We offer five levels of general classes for beginning and intermediate students, self-paced and instructor-led labs where students can work on specific skills or practice at their own pace, and conversation classes so students can build confidence in their speaking skills.
Students also have the option of completing two noncredit Certificates of Completion in Basic and Advanced ESL. A brief description of each certificate is provided below.
This program is best for students who want to take the first step toward learning English, individuals with a limited educational background, or those who have never taken an ESL course before. Students will develop basic literacy skills in both Spanish and English, as well as beginning reading, written, listening, and spoken English skills. Students who complete the program will be prepared for more advanced courses.
This program is best for students who have completed the Basic Noncredit ESL program, or those who fulfilled the entry requirements for advanced classes by taking a placement test. Students will develop intermediate reading, written, listening, and spoken English skills, and will be prepared to continue their path to fluency through credit classes.

Be More, Do More, Earn More!
Speaking, reading, and writing English is key to advancing your education and unlocking more career opportunities.
Improved English skills can also lead to promotions or supervisory positions. This is especially true in agriculture, where managers and field supervisors who are bilingual are in great demand.
Knowing English can also help you earn vocational licenses or even apply for medical board certifications.
