Step 1 — Enroll in BASK 7004A (CRN 40566)
- Free, noncredit, no grades, no minimum attendance.
- Required before you can receive tutoring.
Step 2 — Schedule an Appointment
Choose one:
- Visit the Tutorial Center
- Call 805-922-6966 ext. 3260
- Schedule online (see next tab below)
Step 3 — Meet Your Tutor
- Sessions last 50 minutes
- Available in person or on Zoom
- Go to the ARC tutoring room (or use the Zoom link sent to you)
1. Access SuccessNet
- Log in to the AHC Portal and search "SuccessNet, and select SuccessNet: Appointment Services/Early Alert, or visit directly.
2. Find the Tutoring Course
- Click the menu (≡) → Courses
- Select Supervised Tutoring (BASK 7004A…)
- Click Schedule Appointment
3. Choose Appointment Details
- Appointment type: “I need a tutor for one of my classes.”
- Select your course
- If no tutor is available, you’ll see a message indicating no openings
- Choose tutor, day, and time
- Choose in-person or remote
- Optionally add notes
- Click CONFIRM
3. After You Book
- You’ll receive a confirmation screen
Important reminders:
- Must be enrolled in BASK 7004A
- Book 24 hours in advance. Appointments booked less than 24 hours in advance are not guaranteed.
- One weekly appointment per course
- For more time, contact the Tutorial Center
- Cancel as soon as you know you won't be able to make it, at least three hours before your scheduled appointment (see below for cancellation instructions).
Cancellation Policy:
- Cancel at least 3 hours in advance, or as soon as you know you won't be able to make it.
- Repeated no-shows may result in being dropped
Cancel Online with SuccessNet
- Go to SuccessNet via the AHC Portal
- Menu (≡) → Upcoming
- Select the appointment → (. . .) → Cancel appointment
- If recurring, choose:
- Just this one or
- All of them
- You’ll receive a cancellation email and text

The mission of the Tutorial Center is to assist students in completing their courses. Tutoring supports the college's mission to provide support services that help students achieve their educational goals.
The Tutorial Center is a valuable service provided to Allan Hancock College students. The center offers free, on-site group and one-on-one tutoring in most academic subjects for all AHC students who apply. All students can receive one hour of tutoring per week for each class they are taking. Call the Tutorial Center to sign up for tutoring at any point in the semester.
Tutoring is a vitamin, not an aspirin. Stay academically healthy by visiting with a tutor early and often.
TUTORIAL CENTER APPOINTMENTS
- Appointments must be made 48 hours in advance.
- Individual or group appointments are available.
- Appointments can be made for the entire semester or one-time only.
- Students can sign up for tutoring anytime during the semester.
- Tutoring is free for Allan Hancock College students.
PEER TUTORS ARE STUDENTS WHO:
- Received an “A” or “B” letter grade in the subjects they tutor.
- Have been recommended by their instructors.
- Currently have a 3.0 GPA or higher and maintain it through the semester.
- Have been trained to help you to improve your learning skills.
All tutoring is available in person or online--your choice.
