College for Kids (CFK) and Teens offers fun, hands-on learning that sparks curiosity and a love of learning for all youth in the communities we serve.

Kids in the Kitchen for Teens (CFK 8320) 

Students aged 12 – 17 will enjoy hands-on culinary experiences while preparing spring rolls and Chinese dumplings. Each class combines a recipe with an educational activity, exploring food science, kitchen skills, and the rich cultural traditions behind these foods. Students will engage with diverse culinary practices and gain a deeper appreciation for global cultures 

Program Dates 

  • March 14, 2026– Vietnamese Spring Rolls  
  • April 11, 2026 – Chinese Dumplings Cooking Fundamentals 
  • May 2, 2026 – Vietnamese Spring Rolls 

All recipes are nut-free and allergy-aware when possible. 

Program Time: Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

  • Online registration opens February 11, 2026, and closes April 1, 2026 . 

Enrollment Fee: $50 
Materials Fee: $10 

  • Use one form per student. Registrations are first-come, first-served. 
  • Payment accepted: check (to AHC), cash, or credit/debit card in person by parent/guardian. 
  • Parents may not sit in or audit classes.

Community Education (Building S) 

Students aged 7 - 11 will enjoy hands-on culinary experiences while preparing Bunny Bao Buns. This class combines a recipe with an educational activity, exploring food science, kitchen skills, and the rich cultural traditions behind these foods. Students will engage with diverse culinary practices and gain a deeper appreciation for global cultures.

Saturday April 4, 2026 – Bunny Bao Bun Making  

All recipes are nut-free and allergy-aware when possible. 

Program Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Fuel your summer with hands-on courses designed to spark curiosity, build skills, and get you ready for the next step in your academic journey. Explore engaging classes, meet new friends, and dive into college-bound learning in a fun, supportive environment. 

Registration Opens: March 13, 2026 (CRNs will be posted on this date to the webpage) 

Program Dates: June 15 – June 19, 2026,  

Hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (times vary depending on courses registered for) 

Location: Santa Maria Campus 
Enrollment Fee: Enrollment fees vary depending on the courses selected for your child. 

Courses will be offered in a variety of topics:  

  • Art/Adaptive Art 
  • Speed Spanish for Kids/Teens 
  • Political Science 
  • Music 
  • Cooking/Food Science 
  • Dance 
  • STEM 
  • Agriculture/Gardening 
  • ESL Interior Design for Kids

Entry: 

  • One form per student. Registrations are processed in the order received. 
  • Payment: cash, credit/debit card; payments need to be made in person. 
  • Parents may not attend or audit class without coordinator approval. 
  • For safety, enrollment details are not shared by phone. Parent/guardian status verified in person.

Program Guidelines

  • Courses are for ages 4–18. Check listings for age eligibility. All classes are coed unless noted.
  • Students must behave appropriately. Disruptive students will be dismissed without refund.
  • Classes meet Monday–Saturday at various times/dates. Review schedules carefully.

Injury/Accident Disclaimer

  • Some classes carry a risk of injury. Participation is voluntary and assumes all risks.
  • CFK students do not pay the Health Services Fee and are not covered by college accident insurance.

Transportation

  • Parents are responsible for drop-off/pick-up and transportation to/from classes and field trips.
  • Children must be walked to/from class and picked up on time.
  • After 15 minutes, instructors will escort children to Community Education (Bldg. S) or Campus Police, and parents/guardians will be called.

Refund Policy

  • No refunds once a class begins. Drop at least one day prior to receive a refund.
  • If a class is canceled before starting, a full credit will be issued.
  • If dropped before the first class, students receive a full class and materials fee refund. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances.
  • Refund requests must be submitted at the Community Education office (Bldg. S) using the Refund Request form.

Community Information

The College for Kids (CFK) program, established in 1984, is offered by the Community Education Department to expand learning opportunities for youth.

CFK is self-supporting and receives no taxpayer funding. All classes are fee-based. Registration must be completed in person at Community Education (Bldg. S), AHC Santa Maria campus.
