For more than 100 years, Allan Hancock College has shown dedication to supporting student success. Our comprehensive programs are structured to help students achieve their goals and build better lives. We continue to sharpen our focus on providing access to higher education, while acting as a catalyst for changing the odds in Northern Santa Barbara County.
Local recent high school graduates have the opportunity to attend Hancock tuition and fee-free with the Hancock Promise, a scholarship that breaks down financial barriers to a college education. Since 2018, thousands of Bulldog students have received the Promise and continued their journeys of transferring to university or becoming employed.
Allan Hancock College maintains the highest transfer rate in the state to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Year over year, our exceptional transfer rate is due in part to Hancock's university transfer counseling process, coupled with the quality of instruction that students receive as they prepare to transfer.
Recently, Hancock implemented an auto-awarding degree program that essentially allows our students to only take the course units they need to achieve their degrees and/or certificates. Over the past few years, Hancock has: reduced the number of units among degree earners; reduced the time to completion; and increased three-year graduation rates.
Our neighbors in Lompoc now have new opportunities to pursue higher education from our Lompoc Valley Center. Launching in fall 2022, 12 new degrees in the areas of social and behavioral sciences, math and sciences, business administration, and psychology can be completed exclusively in person at the LVC. This allows Lompoc residents to earn a college degree in their community.
High school students have more opportunities to get ahead on their college education without leaving their high school campuses. Hancock offers concurrent enrollment classes at nine area high schools: Cabrillo, Lompoc, Orcutt Academy, Pioneer Valley, Ernest Righetti, Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, St. Joseph, and Family Partnership Charter School.
Whether you are interested in transferring to a four-year university, earning a certificate in career education, enhancing your skills, or starting college early, Hancock is truly the place for you. Our faculty and staff are committed to student success in the classroom and beyond the campus.
