United Central Coast
Bachelor Degrees at Community Colleges
Central Coast businesses understand the importance of Allan Hancock College's baccalaureate degree initiative, especially following the recent provisional approval of the Bachelor's Degree in Applied Professional Studies. This degree addresses a critical issue that hinders local industry growth—the challenge of recruiting qualified individuals from our local community due to the lack of affordable, in-person baccalaureate degree options within our region.
The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Applied Professional Studies is an applied career technical education program that would provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete and succeed in a constantly evolving job market.
With full approval expected by March 2025 and classes starting as early as fall 2026, local businesses, organizations, and schools will have access to highly skilled, local professionals who are more likely to stay in our community. These graduates will be prepared to lead in operational settings as entry-level professionsals in a diverse range of industries including agriculture, manufacturing, professional services, space/launch enterprises, and health care.
