Hancock Celebrates Pride Month With Flag Raising

MAY 31, 2023-- Allan Hancock College is inviting students, staff, and the public to celebrate Pride Month with an LGBTQ+ flag-raising event.

The flag raising will take place on June 5 at 4 p.m. at the Mechanics Bank Student Center on the college’s Santa Maria campus. The event is open to the public and is hosted by Hancock’s Pride Alliance Club.

“This pride flag-raising event is a way to visibly welcome and support the LGBTQ+ community, honoring their history and intentionally acknowledge the work that still needs to be done,” said Pride Alliance Club Co-Advisors LeeAnne McNulty, Ed.D., Maggie Morten, Frankie Maldonado, and Henry Schroff. 

The event will include the raising of the pride flag, testimonials from Hancock students, and food. All are welcome to attend this free event.
