Chris Hite
Chris Hite is an award-winning filmmaker, screenwriter, and animator with scholarly interests in Documentary, Experimental, and World Cinema, particularly German and Italian cinema.
As a filmmaker, Hite’s films have screened at over eighty national and international film festivals and broadcast showcases including the Smita Patil Documentary Festival in India, the BBC Big Screen in Birmingham, UK, and Port Shorts, Port Douglas, Australia. His most recent documentary, FireStorm ’77: The True Story of the Honda Canyon Fire has appeared at over sixty film festivals and was named Best U.S. Documentary at the Big Bear Film Summit. It is currently streaming on Itunes and Amazon. Hite himself has served as a film fest screener and judge at the Big Apple Film Festival, West Virginia Filmmakers Film Festival, and the South Georgia Film Fest.
Hite was an After Effects artist/animator with the Emmy Award winning creative team of Smart Start Kids, an educational program geared towards pre-school children, produced in conjunction with WRAL in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Hite’s screenplays have won awards at the Action on Film festival and the LA All-Sports Festival. He has written for Super 8 Today magazine and presented papers at the TransAtlantic Visions Conference in Rome, Society of Cinema and Media Studies, and the Italian Cinema(s) Abroad Conference at Ohio State University.
Chris started his career as an editor, videographer, and sound recordist working for various production companies on the east coast of the United States. He has edited over 200 commercials, product, and training videos for clients like National Geographic, Glaxo SmithKline, Coldwell Banker, and Georgetown University Student Credit Union.
