Types of Financial Aid
Cal-Grant
The Cal Grant Program is funded by the state of California. The program helps California
                                          residents afford an education at a California college.
The California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) is the state agency in charge of the grant. It determines student eligibility and the type of Cal Grant the student will receive.

California College Promise Grant (CCPG)
Formerly called BOG. California residents may be eligible to have enrollment fees
                                          waived (currently $46 per unit).

Federal Pell Grant
Federal Pell Grants are usually awarded only to undergraduate students who display
                                          exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor's, graduate, or professional
                                          degree.

Available to US citizens and Permanent Resident undergraduate students

Federal Student Loans
Subsidized: U.S. Department of Education pays interest while the student is in school, during
                                          grace and deferment periods. Must be enrolled at least half-time and demonstrate financial
                                          need.
Unsubsidized: Student is responsible for the interest. Must be at least half-time; financial need
                                          is not required.

Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
The FSEOG program is administered directly by the financial aid office at each participating
                                          school. Not all schools participate.

US Citizen and Permanent Resident undergraduate students with exceptional financial
                                          need

$150–$750, depending on availability of school funds
Federal Work-Study (FWS)
FWS provides part-time jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn
                                          money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work
                                          and work related to the student’s course of study.

US Citizen and Permanent Resident undergraduate students
AHC Annual Amount
Up to $5,000
Hancock Promise
Provides local high school graduates with two years of free tuition at Allan Hancock
                                          College. Open to students who enroll immediately after graduating from a high school
                                          in the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District, including home-schooled and
                                          GED/HiSET graduates.
Type of Aid
Tuition waiver for up to two concurrent years
Who is eligible?
Recent high school graduates within the AHCJCCD boundaries who immediately enroll
                                          and meet Hancock Promise requirements

Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG)
The SSCG is a financial aid program for Cal Grant B recipients attending a California
                                          community college full-time (12 units or more).

Who is eligible?
 Must be a Cal Grant B recipient who:
- Received a full-time Cal Grant payment
- Is enrolled full-time (12 units or more)
- Is meeting Federal Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Has unmet financial need

 $2,596 annually for eligible students enrolled in 12–14.99 units per term
$8,000 annually for eligible students enrolled in 15+ units per term
Student Success Completion Grant (SSCG)
Former foster youth may qualify for enhanced SSCG funding if they meet eligibility
                                          requirements.

AHC Annual Amount
$10,500 annually
Beginning in Fall 2025, LAP students with an approved academic accommodation plan will be considered full-time for SSCG eligibility if they are enrolled in at least 9 units and receiving a Cal Grant.
