For more than a century, Allan Hancock College has worked to change the odds for students in Northern Santa Barbara County. That commitment continues today through one of the most important initiatives in our history.

Allan Hancock College is leading a transformational effort to expand four-year degree access for our region. In 2024, the Cal Poly Bachelor’s Pathway in Sociology launched, allowing students to complete all four years of the degree on the Hancock campus. Now in its second year, the student cohorts are thriving. In 2026, more Bulldogs will become Mustangs as the Cal Poly Bachelor’s Pathway in Business Administration launches. Both programs bring upper division Cal Poly coursework to Hancock after students complete their lower division requirements here. By 2030, Cal Poly will offer two additional bachelor’s degrees on our campus.

We also partnered with CSU Channel Islands to bring their RN to BSN program to Hancock nursing students, which strengthens the regional healthcare workforce. In just a few short years, our community will have direct access to five bachelor’s degree pathways at Hancock.

The Hancock Promise continues to remove financial barriers by giving eligible local high school graduates a full year of tuition and fees at no cost. Since 2018, thousands of students have used the Promise to begin their college journey and move forward with confidence.

Hancock maintains the highest transfer rate in California to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. This success reflects the quality of instruction at Hancock and the strength of our university transfer counseling process.

In previous years, Hancock expanded opportunities across the district with several initiatives designed to streamline the student experience. These include an auto-awarding degree program that reduces excess units and improves completion timelines, a set of full degree pathways offered entirely at the Lompoc Valley Center, and increased access to concurrent enrollment courses at area high schools. These initiatives laid important groundwork for the college’s continued focus on access and student success.

Whether your goal is to transfer to a university, earn a career education certificate, improve your skills, or explore new opportunities, Hancock is here for you. Our faculty and staff are dedicated to supporting students in the classroom and throughout their academic journey.

I invite you to visit this webpage regularly. It serves as an information hub with updates on college initiatives and weekly reports on news and activities across campus. I hope it gives you a sense of the welcoming and student-centered community that defines Allan Hancock College.

I look forward to seeing you on campus.
