Hancock Hosts Winter Promise Workshops

DECEMBER 15, 2023--  Allan Hancock College is giving high school seniors and current Hancock students a helping hand preparing to apply for spring classes and filling out their financial aid applications at a series of free workshops beginning Dec.18. 

During Hancock’s Winter Promise workshops, students and their parents will be able to get assistance applying to attend Hancock, applying for scholarships through the Santa Barbara Foundation and preparing and submitting their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA ) and Dream Act applications. 

The workshops are free and will be available in English and Spanish.  

This year, the workshops will be particularly helpful, as new changes to FAFSA will require that both high school seniors and their parent(s) or guardians create an FSA account at least one week before starting a FAFSA or CA Dream Act application. Hancock staff at the Winter Promise Workshops will also be on hand to assist students and their parents with this process.  

The college’s Winter Promise workshops will take place at Hancock’s Santa Maria campus in building A, Room 103, on the following days and times: 

• Dec. 18-21 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. 
• Dec. 22 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. 
• Dec. 27-28 from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. 
• Jan. 3-4 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. 
• Jan. 5 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. 
• Jan. 8-10 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
