NOVEMBER 8, 2024-- Allan Hancock College is encouraging new and current students to register for winter and spring classes.

Open registration for winter and spring classes at the college began Nov. 7. The college is offering hundreds of credit and noncredit classes across a wide range of subjects and areas of study for students seeking degrees, certificates, transfer, job training, or enrichment.

“We want our students to know that everyone at Hancock is invested in helping them reach their educational goals this winter and spring,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “We are encouraging them to register for classes now and take advantage of all the resources and support services that Hancock offers.”

That support includes financial aid, free textbooks, free bus passes, free tutoring and more.

Hancock student and Associated Student Body Government President Angela Ruiz shared that access to campus resources, along with the support of Hancock’s dedicated faculty and staff, has been essential in keeping her on track and thriving as a college student.

“Getting a college education is important to me to achieve my goals of being a public defender and helping people,” Ruiz said. “I think the best part about being a Hancock student is the faculty and staff. They all want you to succeed.”

This winter and spring, the college is also continuing its Lompoc Valley Center degree programs, which allow students to pursue degrees from four areas of study that can be completed exclusively at the LVC without commuting to the college’s Santa Maria campus. Available LVC degree programs include business administration, math and science, social and behavioral sciences, and psychology.

In addition to credit classes, Hancock Community Education is offering free noncredit fall classes, including English as a second language, citizenship, workplace preparation, GED classes, basic skills courses, green gardening, commercial truck driving and more.

Winter classes at Hancock start on Dec. 16, and spring classes start on Jan. 21. To learn more and register for classes, visit https://www.hancockcollege.edu/winterspring.
