Hancock Kicks-Off Spring 2026 Classes

Students and staff stand behind an Allan Hancock College information booth set up outdoors on the first day of fall classes. The table is covered with a blue Allan Hancock College tablecloth and displays snacks, fruit, flyers, and sign-up materials. The booth is under a canopy near campus walkways and staircases, welcoming students as classes begin.

JANUARY 22, 2026-- Allan Hancock College welcomed thousands of students back to campus this week as spring 2026 classes began January 20 at the college’s Santa Maria campus and Lompoc Valley Center.

Both campuses were buzzing with activity as students arrived for the first week of the semester. More than 10,800 credit and noncredit students enrolled in spring classes at Hancock, a 7% increase from the 2025 spring semester.

“Our staff and faculty are excited welcome students to campus for spring classes,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “Our students come to Hancock with big goals, and we are committed to providing the support, guidance, and resources they need to succeed from day one.”

To help students navigate the start of the semester, Hancock staff, administrators, and student ambassadors staffed information booths during the first days of classes. Team members answered questions, provided snacks and helped students locate classrooms and campus resources.

Hancock Student Ambassador Jaci Rayas said many students appreciate the extra help during their first days on campus.

“A lot of students are stepping onto campus for the very first time, so we’re here to help them find their classes and feel welcome,” said Rayas. “Some students are excited, some are nervous, but it’s great to be able to reassure them and let them know they’ve got this.”

This spring, Hancock will continue to offer a wide range of student support services, including tutoring, financial aid assistance, academic counseling, health services, and the college’s Basic Needs Center, which offers a food pantry and clothing closet. Additionally, the college made it easier for students on class waitlists to secure a seat by automatically enrolling them when spaces become available.
