AHC English & Drama Departments Present "Hemingway Country" Reading
NOVEMBER 6, 2023-- Allan Hancock College’s English department and drama program are teaming up to bring the stories of literary legend Ernest Hemingway to life.
The groups will present a theatrical reading of “Hemingway Country” on Nov. 13 from 2-4 p.m. at the Boyd Concert Hall (bldg. F) on the college’s Santa Maria campus.
“Hemingway Country” is a one-act performance adapted from five short stories penned by Hemingway. Hancock English instructor Darren Sullivan wrote the script for “Hemingway Country” and assembled the play’s performers, which include Tina Nunez, Ryan Hennessy, Emma “Lex” Woodard, and Sophia Dixon.
“This new play, and the brand-new stage of Boyd Hall, will bring to life the timeless and relevant stories from earlier in Hemingway's writing career,” said Sullivan.
The performance of “Hemingway Country” will be directed by Hancock drama instructor Colum Morgan. This event is free and open to members of the public.
