Hancock Celebrates National Poetry Month

Poet Jakeel Harris performs at the Dr. Kate Adams Poetry Symposium at Allan Hancock College. Standing under a blue canopy, he passionately delivers his poem into a microphone, gesturing with one hand while holding a poetry book in the other. He wears a black cap, a black graphic t-shirt, and a light gray button-up jacket. The outdoor setting includes greenery and a modern building in the background.

MARCH 24, 2025-- April is National Poetry Month, and Allan Hancock College is hosting a diverse series of events celebrating the art of poetry in late March and April at its Santa Maria campus.

These events, which range from student readings to visits from prominent poets, are free and open to Hancock students, staff, faculty and members of the public.
