Hancock Welcomes New Students at "Hancock Hello" Orientation

AUGUST 6, 2024-- Allan Hancock College invited more than 1,700 new students to attend a “Hancock Hello” orientation event on Aug. 6 at the Santa Maria campus.
During the event, the new Bulldog students and their parents were able to learn more about Hancock and the programs and support services the college offers. Attendees met faculty and staff, learned more about college departments and student clubs, and took campus tours.
“It’s amazing how many clubs and how many people are involved in Hancock Hello,” said Lillian Karstrom, student ambassador and first-time attendee. “It’s incredible how many services the college has to offer students.”
Students and parents who attended this year’s Hancock Hello were also encouraged to participate in workshops designed to prepare them for college life. Offered in English and Spanish, the workshops included financial aid, tips from the college’s deans, how to utilize Hancock’s Career Center, and how parents can support their new college students.
“Hancock Hello is an experience designed for incoming Hancock students and parents to get a feel for the campus,” said outreach specialist Maggie Moreton. “It provides a vibrant and welcoming campus environment, helping new students feel connected from the very beginning.”
In addition to learning more about the college, students also enjoyed food, music, and Hancock swag. Hancock will hold a second “Hancock Hello” event at its Lompoc Valley Center campus on Aug. 13 from 4-7 p.m.
Registration for fall classes at Hancock is ongoing. Fall classes begin on Aug. 19. To learn more and register, visit www.hancockcollege.edu/fall.
