PG&E Foundation Donates $50K To Hancock Promise Campaign

SEPTEMBER 16, 2022-- The Allan Hancock College Foundation received a $50,000 donation from the PG&E Foundation to support the Hancock Promise endowment.
The surprise donation was made during the Foundation’s inaugural winemaker’s dinner, which took place on Sept. 10 at the college’s Santa Maria campus. The event brought together a wide array of individuals, business owners, philanthropists and community organizations to celebrate the Foundation’s progress on the Hancock Promise campaign.
The donation was presented by Lindsey Miller, a member of PG&E’s Strategy, Policy and Engagement team, on behalf of the company.
“We are very thankful to PG&E for their ongoing and generous support of the Hancock Promise,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “Their commitment will ensure that thousands of students in Northern Santa Barbara County continue to benefit from this transformative program.”
The Hancock Promise provides local high school graduates with the opportunity to get their first year of tuition and fees free at Hancock. The program removes financial barriers and helps create pathways to increase college readiness, access, affordability, and success for students and their families. The Hancock Promise is open to all students who enroll at Hancock immediately after graduating from a high school located in the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District.
The foundation is building a $10 million fund to support the Hancock Promise in perpetuity, with more than $6.5 million received in gifts and pledges.
