Hancock Hosts Annual Student Art Exhibit
JANUARY 21, 2020--The talent and creativity of students enrolled in the fine arts program at Allan Hancock College will be on display during the college’s Fine Arts Student Art Show from Jan. 23 through March 13, 2020.
Artwork by more than 50 students will be showcased at the Ann Foxworthy Gallery on Hancock’s Santa Maria campus as part of the show.
The show features a diverse range of artwork by students in Hancock’s 2D and 3D studio arts, applied design/media and photography programs. The student’s work highlights a wide range of mediums including inting, photography, drawing, mixed media, digital arts, graphic design, ceramics and animation.
“It’s wonderful to be able to shine a light on the inspiring work of our fine arts students and showcase the numerous art classes and mediums students have an opportunity to explore at Hancock,” said Ann Foxworthy Gallery Director Laura-Susan Thomas. “Some of these students are just beginning their journey to become professional artists, while others are continuing to explore their love for the arts and polishing their skills.”
Many of the students featured in the show intend to pursue careers in the fine arts and earn certificates or associate degrees offered through Hancock’s fine arts and applied design/media programs. Additionally, other students showcased in the gallery are building their artistic skills and portfolios with the intent to transfer to a university or arts program and obtain a four-year degree.
A reception for the student artists will take place on Jan. 29 from noon until 1:30 p.m. in the gallery. The public is invited to meet these talented students and see their work.
The Ann Foxworthy Gallery is located in the Academic Resource Center, bldg. L, on the Santa Maria campus. The gallery is open Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-7:45 p.m., and on Fridays from 9 a.m.-2:45 p.m. The gallery is closed on weekends and holidays.
