Stunning Landscapes of Painter Bruce Everett on Display at Ann Foxworthy Gallery

AUGUST 11, 2022 -- The Ann Foxworthy Gallery at Allan Hancock College is kicking off its inaugural fall exhibit by showcasing the work of Central Coast landscape painter Bruce Everett.
The show, titled “The Land as Muse: The Paintings from Bruce Everett” runs from Aug. 15 - Sept. 9, and features a variety of Everett’s landscape paintings. Everett’s photorealistic compositions often include sweeping vistas and majestic terrain that highlight the exquisite intricacies of nature.
“There is no irony, no theory, no theme connected to most landscape painting, and certainly not mine,” said Everett. “But there is a sort of austere seriousness, and a recognition of an essential, profound intelligence in our natural environment.”
Everett’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries nationally and is included in public, private and corporate collections. He received a master’s degree in art from the University of Iowa, and a master of fine arts degree in painting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He taught as a professor of art at California State University, Northridge for 35 years before retiring on the Central Coast.
“Everett’s work is very captivating,” said interim fall Ann Foxworthy Gallery Director Jill Thayer, Ph.D. “One is drawn into the presence of the environment that he sees and creates.”
In addition to the exhibit, the gallery will also host an artist’s talk on Aug. 17 from 12:30-2 p.m.
The Ann Foxworthy Gallery is located inside the Academic Resource Center, bldg. L on the Santa Maria campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Wednesday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. To learn more about the exhibit, visit the gallery webpage at www.hancockcollege.edu/gallery.
