Hancock Encourages Students to Register for Fall Classes

JULY 18, 2022 -- Fall classes at Allan Hancock College begin on Aug. 15, and the college is reminding new and returning students that there is still time to apply and register for classes. This fall, the college is offering hundreds of credit classes via in-person, online, and hybrid formats to help students realize their goals of graduating with a degree or certificate, transferring to a four-year university or starting a career.

“There’s never been a better time for students to enroll in classes at Hancock,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “Our students have the opportunity to earn a quality education and get the services and support they need to succeed.”

Those support services include the Hancock Promise Plus, which provides free tuition for the 2022-23 academic year to any student taking 12 units or more. The program is open to all eligible students, regardless of residency.

In addition to the Promise Plus, Hancock is continuing to offer a wide variety of support services and programs including financial aid, free textbooks, free bus passes, free tutoring and more.

The college is also offering two exciting new programs to help students change their odds this fall. Hancock's new flex degree programs offers classes in a flexible hybrid format on nights and weekends. Most flex class programs run for no more than eight weeks each semester. Available flex degree programs include business administration, arts and humanities, and psychology.

The college also offers new Lompoc Valley Center degree programs this fall. The new degree programs can be completed exclusively at the LVC, allowing Lompoc residents to earn a two-year degree in their community. The classes are available on-campus and in-person during the day and evening to accommodate students’ schedules. Available LVC degree programs include business administration, math and science, social and behavioral sciences, and psychology.

In addition to credit classes, Hancock Community Education is offering dozens of free noncredit fall classes, including English as a second language, citizenship, workplace preparation, GED classes, basic skills courses, classes for seniors, and more.
