Hancock Wins Statewide Awards

JUNE 12, 2020 -- Allan Hancock College’s Public Affairs and Communications, Information Technology, and Campus Graphics departments took home multiple awards from the statewide Community College Public Relations Organization (CCPRO) for their work on the college’s website and advertising campaigns.
The departments received four total awards during CCPRO’s annual awards ceremony, which was held virtually on June 10. Awards included first place for marketing campaign, first place for digital marketing campaign, and two third place wins for best marking campaign and website.
“The Public Affairs and Communications, Campus Graphics, and Information Technology departments at Hancock are incredibly creative and strategic, always putting the students front and center in the work that they do, and these awards recognize that," said Hancock Director of Public Affairs & Communications Lauren Milbourne. "I am incredibly proud of the work that we do to help communicate the classes and services we offer and the impact it has on changing the odds for our students."
The two first-place awards for marketing and digital marketing were both for its “Squeeze in Some Classes” campaign. Both campaigns were used to promote short-term fall 2019 classes at the college using eye-catching and comical images based on a “squeeze” theme.
“Who doesn't love cats, monster trucks and toothpaste - it brings everyone in and catches their attention,” said one of the contests judges. “Great concept to take on how to advertise to students to take short-term courses. The humor placed on the concept makes it more relatable to their age group,” remarked another judge.
Hancock received a third-place award for its fall 2019 “Change Your Odds” marketing campaign, which featured then-Hancock student and women’s basketball player Tashara Pruett and her daughter. Hancock’s recently redesigned website also took home a third-place award, with judges praising the site’s design and functionality.
“Your home page rocks! You capture so much without it looking busy or oversaturated,” commented one of the judges. “It makes for a clean, easy to navigate and readable website.”
