LVC Academic Success Center Staff

Sean Maddox has been a lab technician at Allan Hancock College for eight years. He began his career in the Academic Resource Center in Santa Maria, where he assisted in developing procedures and systems to connect students with tutors and ensured they received the academic support needed to excel in their studies. From there, he went on to help establish the Academic Success Center in Lompoc, providing students at the Lompoc Valley Campus with a dedicated space to access academic support and resources, including tutoring, to support their success. Before working in these roles, he spent over a decade as a professor of composition within the CSU system. Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in composition and rhetoric from California State University, Fresno. When he’s not supporting students in achieving their goals, he enjoys spending time in nature, including camping, backpacking, and fly fishing.

Kyra began working at Allan Hancock College as the Lompoc Valley Center’s STEM Learning Lab Coordinator at the start of 2026.
She was born and raised in Santa Maria and is an AHC biology major alumna. As an AHC student, she utilized the MESA/STEM Academic Success Center and served as a cellular biology tutor. After graduating from AHC in 2019, she transferred to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with a Concentration in Ecology, Evolution, Biodiversity, and Conservation in 2021.
As the LVC STEM Learning Lab Coordinator, Kyra greatly enjoys working with and supporting AHC students, staff, and faculty. When providing tutoring aid, chemistry and biology are Kyra’s strongest subject knowledge areas. During her free time, Kyra enjoys reading, doing yoga, and spending time with her loved ones and pets.
