What is the difference between the black and gold tassels?
The standard tassel is the black tassel. The gold tassels are reserved for students with a 3.50 G.P.A or higher as indicated by the Admissions and Records honor list. Gold tassels will be available to purchase from the bookstore starting May 6, 2024.

How do I care for my gown?
The gowns should not be washed, ironed, or dry-cleaned as they are mainly for one-time use. Upon first removal from wrapping, the gown can be hung up during a shower allowing the steam to lightly remove most wrinkles.

Borrow Graduation Gown

The Basic Needs Center has graduation gowns available on loan for graduates.grad group

Please complete this form to request a graduation cap and gown or visit the Basic Needs Center in G-101 inside the Student Center on the Santa Maria Campus.

This program seeks to assist students who have a financial need with a cap and gown for the duration of the graduation ceremony. Don't let the cost of a cap and gown prevent you from participating in the ceremony. The gowns are given on loan and should be returned to the Basic Needs Center after graduation.

For questions, contact Jannet Rios.

Transfer Stars

Students who are transferring can receive a transfer medallion by submitting the Transfer Recognition Award Form to the University Transfer Center by May 8, 2024 or stop by the UTC in A-205.
