Toyota of Santa Maria to Donate Proceeds from Sale of Limited Edition Supra to Support the Hancock Promise

Toyota of Santa Maria Promise Donation

AUGUST 26, 2019 -- The Hancock Promise endowment campaign will soon benefit through a partnership with Toyota of Santa Maria. The car dealership is helping Allan Hancock College change the odds for students by donating a portion of the proceeds from a 2020 Toyota Supra Launch Edition (currently for sale in its showroom) directly to the Hancock Promise.

The Hancock Promise provides local high school graduates with the opportunity to get their first year of tuition and fees covered at Allan Hancock College. The program removes financial barriers and helps create pathways to increase college readiness, access, affordability and success for students and their families. The Hancock Promise is open to all students who enroll at Hancock immediately after graduating from a high school located in the Allan Hancock Joint Community College District.

“We are very excited that a local sponsor like Toyota of Santa Maria is stepping up to help support The Hancock Promise,” said Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “They are helping our local students get a quality college education and serving our community, which is really what we are all about here in Santa Maria.”

Toyota of Santa Maria General Manager, David LeRoy, said he was inspired to donate proceeds from the sale after learning that the very first 2020 Supra to roll off the production line was auctioned off earlier this year for charity for $2.1 million.

“Since the first 2020 Supra commercial aired during the Super Bowl, our dealership and dealerships across the nation have received interest from the public non-stop,” LeRoy said. “It was an easy decision for us to want to leverage that public interest to support the Hancock Promise.”

The Allan Hancock College Foundation has raised $3.5 million toward a $10 million goal to fund a permanent endowment to support The Hancock Promise into perpetuity.

Toyota of Santa Maria has a 23-year history of community service in the Santa Maria Valley and has partnered with hundreds of local organizations. They’ve won the prestigious Toyota President’s Award 19 times, a recognition very few dealers across the nation have received.

The 2020 Toyota Supra Launch Edition is on display in the showroom at Toyota of Santa Maria, located at 700 East Betteravia Road.
