Catherine Farley Sworn In as Allan Hancock College Police Chief

More than 40 law enforcement officials representing agencies throughout the Central Coast were in attendance

Cathy FarleyNOVEMBER 5, 2018--Catherine Farley, a veteran law enforcement officer with 31 years of diversified law enforcement experience, was sworn in today as the new Allan Hancock Joint Community College District police chief. The ceremony, held on the college’s Santa Maria campus, was attended by more than 40 law enforcement officials representing agencies throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Farley began her career in law enforcement at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), in 1983. Since July of 2012, she served as the assistant chief of police. Prior to that, she held multiple positions within the UCSB Police Department, including police captain, acting lieutenant, police sergeant, and police officer.

“We are thrilled to welcome Catherine Farley to Allan Hancock College,”Farley Ceremony said Allan Hancock College Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D. “Ms. Farley brings a wealth of experience working in a campus setting and with college students. Her leadership will enhance our ability to provide a safe and secure learning environment for the thousands of students, faculty, and staff that the college serves daily.”

The Allan Hancock College Board of Trustees approved Farley’s appointment in October of 2018. Farley replaces Allan Hancock College Interim Police Chief Chris Nartatez.
