Nearly 1,000 classes offered this spring

JANUARY 4, 2017--There is still time to register for spring credit and noncredit classes at Allan Hancock College. Classes begin the week of January 22. Copies of the college’s Spring 2018 Schedule at a Glance are now available at public libraries throughout northern Santa Barbara County and southern San Luis Obispo County. Free to residents while supplies last, this abbreviated printed class schedule contains a basic listing of credit classes. Complete details about all spring classes can be obtained by reviewing the online Class Search. Nearly 1,000 semester-length credit classes are being offered this spring. Other eight-week classes begin the weeks of Jan. 22 or Mar. 26. Dozens of short-term classes, which last less than eight weeks, begin throughout the semester. Interested in starting a new career? Sign up for spring courses that range from accounting, agribusiness, and auto body to cosmetology, dance, economics, speech and welding.

Spring classes are also offered at the Lompoc Valley, Vandenberg AFB, and Santa Ynez Valley centers, and online.

High school students can take advantage of Hancock’s Concurrent Enrollment program. Students at Cabrillo, Family Partnership Charter, Orcutt Academy, St. Joseph, Santa Maria, Pioneer Valley, Lompoc, Righetti and Santa Ynez high schools can register for a class taught at the high school and simultaneously receive high school and college credit. Classes include Elementary Statistics (MATH 123), Elementary French (FRCH 101) and American Government (POLS 103).

Spring Community Education classes begin the week of Jan. 22 and are offered throughout the community and at all campus locations. Courses offered include Stress Management (HEAL 7104), Clothing Alterations (HOEC 7103A), Spanish in the Workplace (VOCE 7018B), Preparation for Citizenship (CITZ 7000A) and Green Gardening (VOCE 7622). Students can register online now, or receive registration assistance in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus.

All current and new students, both credit and Community Education (noncredit), will need to access Class Search to obtain the details about the spring classes in which they wish to enroll. They can search in “real-time” for classes by subject, time of day, location or credits, among other options. 

All students register online via the myHancock student portal. New students must first apply for admission, which is also completed online. Registration is under way for all credit students and Community Education students. Spring classes begin the week of Jan. 22, 2018.

Students can receive assistance with applying for financial aid, registering for classes or any other services all month on all campus locations.
