Hancock Bookstore and English Department Celebrate National Poetry Month With Community Event Thursday, April 26

Poetry fans of all ages are encouraged to come!

APRIL 16, 2018--Allan Hancock College Bookstore, in partnership with the college’s English department, is again celebrating National Poetry Month with a community event on Thursday, April 26, from 3 – 5 p.m. in the Student Center (bldg. G, Room 106A).

During the event, called “13 Ways of Looking at a Poem,” the first hour will feature students from the drama and speech departments highlighting literature. Immediately following, budding poets are welcome to participate in the open mic hour by reading their own work or something that inspired them. No advance registration is required for open mic participants, who can indicate their interest at the event.

“The Allan Hancock College Bookstore team is focused on supporting learning and enhancing the campus experience for the entire college community,” said Jenny Johnson, Allan Hancock College Bookstore manager. “We are pleased to partner with the English department for the second year to co-host this very popular event to celebrate poets and those who love poetry.”

Poetry fans of all ages, including campus and local community members, are encouraged to join the Hancock Bookstore team and English department for this free celebration, complete with raffle prizes for participants and refreshments for all.
