Wide Selection of Online Courses Provide Convenience to Hancock Students

Registration continues through Aug. 20

JUNE 6, 2017--Flexibility and convenience make online courses a popular option for students at Allan Hancock College. This fall, the college will offer nearly 160 online classes allowing students to accommodate work, family and/or transportation constraints. Students can complete their coursework in the comfort of their own home, or on campus computers located on the Santa Maria campus in the Admission & Records office (building A), and at the Lompoc Valley Center Learning Resources Center (library). In 2016, AccreditedSchoolsOnline.org named Hancock the fifth-best online community college in the nation.

Online course disciplines offered this fall include: accounting, anthropology, art, business, computer business information systems and office technology, computer science, drama, economics, early childhood studies, education, emergency medical services, English, environmental technology, family and consumer science, film, food science and nutrition, fire technology, global studies, geography, health education, history, humanities, human services, library skills, mathematics, music, personal development, philosophy, political science, psychology, sociology, Spanish, speech communication and much more.

Hancock students can earn 11 associate degrees entirely through online classes. Nearly two dozen associate degrees are offered partially online.

Registration for both online and regular fall credit classes is under way and continues through Aug. 20. Register online at www.hancockcollege.edu; click the Apply & Register link on the home page. Fall classes begin the week of Aug. 21.

A printed Schedule at a Glance for fall 2017 is available at all college locations and local public libraries. The publication contains basic listing information of credit classes. Students interested in the fall schedule can review it by going to the college’s homepage, www.hancockcollege.edu; and clicking on Class Search. Class Search is available 24/7 and provides real-time enrollment numbers.

First-time students must complete the online New Student Orientation and take the START placement test before registering. In addition, students can now be placed in English and math classes based on multiple measures, including high school performance. All California residents pay a $46 per credit enrollment fee. In addition, all students pay a $19 health fee for the fall term. Financial aid is available. More than 60 percent of Hancock students receive financial assistance each year.
