Medical Billing and Coding

The Medical Billing and Coding program is a two-semester program that is offered in the evenings starting in August (Fall) and ending in May (Spring).

If medical billing and coding is your emphasis, this program will focus on developing foundational skills in the medical billing process, handling insurance forms and coding, completing end-of-month operations in a medical office, accurately coding procedures and diagnoses, and composing legal collection letters as part of collection procedures and practices.

Application Information

Application period is March 15 - May 31 every year.


Prerequisites for the Medical Billing Certification (If using an equivalent course, you must provide Allan Hancocks unofficial transcripts with the application showing proof of equivalency).

  • Eng 101 - completion or taking in Spring

This program is lottery based.  30 students are accepted into the program every year.

Costs for the program are estimated at $2,400.
