Special Programs

Special programs such as the AIM to Dream Center, Veteran Success Center and MESA/STEM Center, Student Health Services, tutoring, and library services are continuing to provide services remotely.

Student Support Services

Student Support services such as Counseling, EOPS, CalWORKs, NextUp/Foster Youth, CARE, and the University Transfer Center have remote access to assist students.

Cranium Café

Cranium Café is a “one stop shop,” allowing you to schedule appointments with nearly anyone on campus — including Community Education (ESL, Basic Skills and Citizenship) – via phone, email, live chat, or video chat. Access Cranium Café through your myHancock portal.

AHC Library Assistance
To ensure the safety and well-being of our campus community, the Allan Hancock College Library building is physically closed for the time being. Users can still access the many digital resources of the library 24/7, such as the article databasese-booksstreaming films, and the library catalog.  

  • If you have an item out from the library (including books and laptops), the due date will be extended to the end of the semester. If you have a hotspot, the service will *not* be turned off. If you have any items out, you can hold on to them until the library reopens. No late fees will be assessed during this time. 
  • Many textbooks can be temporarily accessed for free by downloading VitalSource's Bookshelf app (and creating a new account by using your current AHC email) or through Redshelf at Students can borrow up to seven textbooks at a time. If you cannot find your textbooks on either Bookshelf or Redshelf, consider asking your professors to see if they have PDFs of the text that they can send you. If they do not, contact the library at or fill out the digitization request form and someone will be in touch with you shortly. 
  • The college librarians will continue to provide research assistance via chat, email, and scheduled virtual research consultations through the end of the fall semester. Expanded early morning and late night chat hours will be offered on the following days and times: Monday through Thursday: 6 a.m.-midnight; Friday through Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday: 8 a.m.-midnight. 
  • Request Research Assistance: You can continue to ask the librarians chat questions on the library homepage. You can also will out the virtual research consultation form to set up a more in-depth research meeting with a librarian (over the phone or over video-conference software).

  • California Connects Mobile Internet:

    California Connects includes a mobile hotspot that lets you stay connected to the internet in school, at home, and on the go. The new mobile hotspot service, powered by Sprint, offers nationwide 4G LTE connectivity and allows users to connect up to 10 WiFi enabled devices for up to 10 hours on a single charge with no contract required.

  • Comcast Internet Essentials Free 60-Day Internet for Low-Income Families: Visit the website for more information and information on how to register. Call 855-846-8376 for English speakers or 855-765-6995 for Spanish speakers.

  • Sonic Three Free Months of Internet and Telephone Service: During the COVID-19 outbreak, Sonic is offering three months of free internet access and unlimited nationwide home telephone service to households with K-12, college students, or senior citizens 60 or older.   • California Connects: Affordable Broadband Mobile Internet: California Connects is an affordable broadband mobile internet program for the California Community Colleges. For $19.99 per month*, California community college students, faculty and staff can connect up to 10 devices to the California Connects mobile hotpot anytime and anywhere in the United States to study, work, create and stay connected. Service can be canceled and reactivated anytime without penalty. (*Please note: initial one-time device cost is not included in the monthly service cost).

Follett Cares: Campus Store Support of Off-Campus Learning
The Santa Maria and Lompoc Valley Center bookstores are open with amended hours.

The Santa Maria store will be open Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with walk-up window service. Students who need to come in to choose art supplies, ceramics supplies, or general supplies will be able to enter the store to shop in limited numbers at a time. Students who are unable to shop during these hours or have special needs will be able to contact us to make appointments. Please call our main number at 1-805-922-2391 (Santa Maria) or 1-805-736-8610 (Lompoc Valley Center) and leave a message if you need to schedule an appointment time. Managers will be on-duty longer hours to accommodate appointments. 

The Lompoc Valley Center store will be open Monday and Thursday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for students to shop. The lounge area in the LVC store is closed. 

Students with rental check-ins can print a free return label from their rental account to return their books. In addition, rental due dates have been extended. Books can be returned in person while the bookstore is open. Online orders are processed daily in preparation for summer classes.

Caps and gowns are in stock and are currently for sale. A new serape stole and all your graduation supply needs are for sale at the bookstore. Congrats, graduates!
