Allan Hancock College will open the Santa Ynez Valley Center at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School August 14. The Santa Ynez Valley Center will be located on the west side of the high school near the auto body lab and is accessible from the west entrance off Highway 246.

The center features two classrooms, including a computer lab, and two offices. In addition, a full-time student services technician is at the center, an academic counselor will be available during the week. Counseling is available for high school students and community members.

The college has offered classes in the Santa Ynez Valley for decades. Prior to opening the Santa Ynez Valley Center, the college had offered classes at the Solvang Center since 2000. The Solvang Center will remain open until the end of the summer session on August 5.

The Santa Ynez Valley Center will open its doors in time to allow students to register for fall 2017 classes. The college’s Community Education program will offer more than one dozen noncredit classes at the Santa Ynez Valley Center in the fall. Noncredit classes start the week of August 21, and are free to the public (material and other fees may apply).  See list below.

The college will continue to offer concurrent enrollment classes each semester at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School. Concurrent enrollment classes are free and allow students to earn both college and high school credit. The classes are taught by college-approved faculty at the high school during normal school hours.
