Coast Valley Substance Abuse Treatment Centers: 

Substance abuse and mental illness are human conditions/disorders that can be treated. It is the mission of Coast Valley SATC to provide substance abuse and co-occurring treatment to all who want or need treatment in Santa Barbara County. We offer services at three locations in Lompoc and Santa Maria and provide a number of different programs to meet the needs of our clients including outpatient substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults, bi-weekly food distribution, anger management and parenting courses. We have volunteer opportunities available in Lompoc for food distribution, Recovery Day in the Park, Pay-It-Forward Thrift & Gifts, and at our outpatient facilities.

Growing Grounds Farm, Santa Maria:

Growing Grounds Farm in Santa Maria combines horticultural therapy and vocational training to provide individuals with mental illness employment and a supportive environment where personal growth can be realized. The Santa Maria farm was launched in October 2000, modeled on the successful Growing Grounds Farm, San Luis Obispo. People’s Self-Help Housing:

Santa Maria Valley Humane Society:

The SMVHS is a private non-profit organization that has been serving the Santa Maria Valley for over 30 years. We are committed to providing shelter and care for homeless cats and dogs. Volunteers are the mainstay of our organization and perform an essential part of our day to day operations. Volunteer opportunities available at SMVHS are as diverse as the people they attract. We offer two volunteer shifts per day, 10am to 1pm, and 1pm to 4pm, Monday through Saturday.

The North County Rape Crisis & Child Protection Center: 

We need people to step and to speak up for those who are not ready to do it for themselves.  Our 10 week training consists of a wide spectrum of information from legal prosecution & child abuse to helping a client deal with depression and PTSD after a molestation or assault.  Please contact us regarding schedule for our Advocate and Hotline training.

University of California CalFresh Garden Nutrition Extender Program (GNE)

University of California 4-H Youth Development Program (YDP)

The 4-H YDP in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties is a volunteer led program that emphasizes enrichment education through inquiry-based learning. Youth are encouraged to discover their passions, adopt a growth mindset, practice self-reflection and set goals. 4-H projects and programs are focused around the core content areas of citizenship, healthy living, and science, technology, engineering, and math.
