Hancock Offering Free Noncredit Courses in the Santa Ynez Valley

Available for community members interested in learning a new skill or hobby

SolvangCenterJan. 27, 2017 -- Allan Hancock College Community Education is still accepting students for more than a dozen classes in the Santa Ynez Valley. The classes are held at Hancock’s Solvang Center located at 320 Alisal Road, suite 306 in Solvang.

Most of the classes offered are free, however some fees may apply depending on the course. Classes include watercolor painting, photography, computers, and introduction classes to Microsoft Word and Excel.

There are also basic skills courses offered including GED Test preparation, Preparation for Citizenship, and English as a Second language.

In addition, there is a free business skills lab course designed for people who have never touched a computer, need to upgrade computer skills, or just wants to become more knowledgeable about computer software programs. The lab features individualized, hands-on instruction and lectures on computer basics. People can enroll anytime during the semester for this lab where they can learn at their own pace and choose the hours they want to attend.

Individuals can receive registration assistance in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus.
