Hancock's Community Education Offers Registration Assistance for Noncredit Students

Workshops will be held at the college's Santa Maria campus and Lompoc Valley Center

AUGUST 14, 2017--Allan Hancock College Community Education is hosting several registration workshops next week, August 14-17, at the Santa Maria campus and the Lompoc Valley Center. Members of the community will receive one-on-one registration assistance. Parking is free and food will be provided.

“We understand the challenges associated with the online registration process,” said Sofia Ramirez-Gelpi, Ph.D., dean of academic affairs. “Offering this service reaffirms our commitment to provide lifelong-learning opportunities to our diverse community.”

The registration workshops will take place on the Santa Maria campus at the Community Education building (bldg. S) on August 14, 15, 16 and 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. There will also be a workshop at the Lompoc Valley Center on Monday, August 14 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

“It makes the process less intimidating for all students,” said Elaine Healy, coordinator of Community Education at Hancock.  “This is a great way for noncredit students to finish the enrollment and registration process all in one day.”

Community Education classes available include new fee-based offerings such as Fresh Pasta! The Italian Way and a Day of the Dead Makeup Class. Noncredit courses such as business skills, computers, floral design, English as a Second Language, GED test preparation and citizenship are also available.

Depending on status, students will need to:

  • have their Social Security number
  • provide an ITIN number (if applicable)
  • bring their permanent resident card (green card)
  • bring a payment method for class fees (if applicable)

Students who do not attend the registration workshops can still register online now, or receive registration assistance in person at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus. New students and those without a user name and password must first apply for admission to the college before registering for classes. To access the online admission application, go to www.hancockcollege.edu, click Apply & Register and then select the appropriate admission form.

Fall Community Education classes begin the week of August 21. For more information, visit www.hancockcollege.edu/communityeducation, or call 805-922-6966 ext. 3209.
