Hancock Offerings in the Valley Include Wine Tasting, History and More

Classes begin the week of Aug. 18.

JULY 3, 2014 -- This fall, Allan Hancock College is offering five credit classes in the Santa Ynez Valley.  Classes meet at either the college’s Solvang Center or at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School.

Registration for fall classes is under way.  Classes begin the week of Aug. 18. 

Offered at the Solvang Center is Wine Tasting Room Sales.  The 1.5-unit class meets Tuesdays from 6 to 9:05 p.m. for 8 weeks beginning Oct. 13. 

Offered at Santa Ynez Valley Union High School are Principles of Macro Economics, U.S. History to 1877, U.S. History 1877-Present and American Government.  These classes are open to the public, and to high school students via the College Now! program.  They meet either Monday or Wednesday evenings for 17 weeks beginning Aug. 18.

All California residents pay a $46 per credit enrollment fee.  In addition, all students pay a $19 health fee.  Other minimal fees may apply.

All new and returning students (those students not enrolled in the previous semester) must apply to the college by completing an online admissions application, accessed by clicking the Apply and Register link.

Print copies of the fall 2014 Schedule at a Glance are available at all college sites and local public libraries, while supplies last.   This schedule contains a basic listing of fall classes available at the time of publication.  Students must still access the online Class Search to obtain the details they will need in order to plan their fall class schedule.

Many new, continuing and returning credit students must be assessed prior to enrolling.  This is done through START (Student Testing, Advising, Retention and Transition).  START is a process developed by Allan Hancock College to help students succeed in college.  For assessment requirements, dates and times of testing and a complete list of exemptions to assessment, please refer to the AHC Testing Center Web page (see “Student Services” on the drop down menu), or call 922-6966 or toll free 1-866-DIAL AHC (342-5242) ext. 3364.
