Homeopathy Class Offers Ways to Promote Self-Healing

Learn how your body can help you heal.

JANUARY 29, 2014 -- Learn how your body can stimulate self-healing through basic, safe homeopathy in a new Introduction to Homeopathy class offered through Community Education.

Homeopathy is a medical philosophy based on the belief that the body has the ability to heal and care for itself.  It has been widely used throughout Europe to maintain health and treat a wide range of illnesses such as allergies and rheumatoid arthritis and minor injuries like cuts, scrapes and muscle sprains.

Homeopathic remedies are discussed in this class, which meets Thursdays, Feb. 20 – March 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the AHC Santa Maria campus, Room C – 37.  The fee is $48.

Instructor Helen Talkin, M.A., studied and practiced homeopathy in England, where she taught classes at the Watford Women’s Centre in Watford, prior to moving to Santa Maria area.

She is enrolled in a Ph.D. program at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, where her research includes homeopathy, neuroscience and psychology.

“There is a lot of interest in homeopathy, but not much knowledge or experience of it,” she says.  “Homeopathic remedies are widely and inexpensively available and are safe, with no side effects.  I am very careful to emphasize when people need to consult their medical practitioner.”
