New Parenting Classes Offered Through Community Education

Classes meet Feb. 8 and March 8.

JANUARY 24, 2014 -- Community Education is offering four new parenting classes covering such topics as discipline strategies, building a child’s self-esteem, toilet learning and sleep strategies.  Classes meet on Saturday mornings, Feb. 8 and March 8, and are held at Community Education (bldg. S) on the Santa Maria campus in Room S-112.  A nominal fee of $9-$12 is required for each class.  Students may enroll in one or all of the classes.

Instructor Joan Rice, RN, is a pediatric nurse and has been a parent educator for more than 30 years.  She is author of the book Parenting Solutions (www.joanrice.us), and was recently chosen as presenter for the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC) on April 4 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
