Annual Fine Arts Student Art Show Opens Jan. 27

Artist reception is Feb. 6.

ArtExhibit-2014StudentShow-WolfJANUARY 24, 2014 -- Allan Hancock College’s annual Fine Arts Student Art Show opens Jan. 27 in the Ann Foxworthy Gallery on the Santa Maria campus.  A reception for the artists will take place Thursday, Feb. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the gallery.

This year’s exhibit features 106 works in various media, created by students enrolled in the college’s fine arts program.  Inventive artists from all areas of fine arts present their best sculptures, paintings, pastels, graphic design, photographs and more.  Kicking off the new semester, this exhibit inspires new students with the variety and competency in the work, which was selected by instructors during December finals.ArtExhibit-2014StudentShow-Rose

Subject matter includes portraits, abstracts, type abstractions, CD cover designs and digital and traditional photography.  Ceramics and assemblage pieces round out the variety of works in this extensive show.

The exhibit is on display through Feb. 26, 2014.  Hours are Monday - Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The gallery is closed weekends and school holidays.
