Business Conference Features Success Strategies for Entrepreneurs

Day-long event is set for Feb. 22.

MIYB-DonnaRandolphFEBRUARY 4, 2014 -- If you are in business, or want to be, plan now to attend the Make It YOUR Business Conference on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the historic Santa Maria Inn.  The day-long event, sponsored by the Allan Hancock College Small Business Entrepreneurship Center and Bloggers of Health, will focus on how to launch a for-profit or nonprofit business, steps to take to expand an existing business and the importance of personal health (financial and physical) as a precursor to business success.

The conference will close with a motivational presentation on the importance of taking care of yourself, your business and your community.

“As the economy and business climate shift, we believe this is the perfect time for entrepreneurs to step up to both the challenges and opportunities,” said Anne Cremarosa, director, Small Business Entrepreneurship Center.  “We have developed the Make It YOUR Business Conferenceas a means to grow local business by connecting entrepreneurs with our local and regional business and industry leaders.  There will be opportunities for networking, mentorships, technical assistance and sharing of resources,” she said.

Participants will learn more about:

  • Personal and mental health and the role they play in business success
  • Financial literacy, both personal and professional
  • Business skills such as business plans, financing, human resource management and smart social media (blogging/strategic media and marketing)

Speakers include Jean Steel, a well-known teacher, author and motivational speaker; Dion Jackson, a celebrity trainer, teacher and manager; Helen Troncoso, founder of “Reinventing You” and the former Miss New York America; and Donna Randolph, the conference emcee and local business leader.  A panel discussion with current business leaders will take place following lunch.
