Allan Hancock College Concert Band Performance is March 16

The concert will feature music from around the world.

FEBRUARY 24, 2014 -- The Allan Hancock College Concert Band will present its annual benefit concert for the San Luis Obispo South County Education Foundation on Sunday, March 16, at 3 p.m.  The concert will be held at the Clark Center for the Performing Arts, located on the Arroyo Grande High School campus, 487 Fair Oaks Avenue. 

This concert will feature music from a variety of countries around the world.  The performance will include:

  • “El Choclo,” (Argentine Tango), by Á. G. Villoldo, arr. by R. Longfield
  • “Israeli Fantasy for Band,” arr. by J. Lang
  • "Marche Slave” by P. Tchaikovsky, arr. by L. P. Laurendeau
  • “Gaelic Rhapsody,” arr. by E. Del Borgo
  • “Night Festival” from “Japanese Songs for Band,” arranged by T. Akiyama
  • “Africana,” by Jaroslav Holesovsky
  • “Funiculi, Funicula,” by Luigi Denza, arr. by Jay Bocook
  • “The Symphonic Beatles,” by John Lennon & Paul McCartney, arr. by J. Cacavas
  • “Porgy and Bess,” by George Gershwin, arr. by R. Bennett
  • “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” by John Phiip Sousa

All tickets are $10 and are available at the Clark Center box office (489-9444) or from any band member.  Tickets will be sold at the door, space permitting.

  • Band-a-Rama: Saturday, April 12, Santa Maria campus Sports Pavilion, featuring local middle school and high school bands in performance with the AHC Concert Band
  • Spring Concert:  Saturday, May 12, 7:30 p.m., First Baptist Church, 2970 Santa Maria Way, Santa Maria
