Free Air Emissions Compliance Classes Offered at Lompoc Valley Center

Taught by the Air Resources Board, the classes are for business and industry.

APRIL 16, 2014 -- Owners, operators, fleet managers, brokers, dealers, maintenance personnel and others interested in learning about air emissions management and regulatory compliance are invited to attend any of three courses hosted in May by the Environmental Training Center at Allan Hancock College’s Lompoc Valley Center.  The courses are free and will be held in Room 3-109.  The center is located at One Hancock Drive.

Overview of Diesel Emission Control Strategies (ARB Course No. 511.2) will be held Tuesday, May 13, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.  The course briefly discusses diesel emissions and health effects, emissions control technology, diesel particulate filter (DPF) construction/application and maintenance necessary for successful DPF operation.

In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation Training (ARB Course No. 504) will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon.  The course provides an overview of the Off-Road Regulation, including applicability, requirements currently in effect, future compliance requirements and an overview of the Diesel Off-road Online Reporting System.  A brief discussion of the Portable Equipment Registration Program is also included.

Large Spark-Ignition (LSI) Fleet Regulation Training (ARB Course No. 505) will be offered for the first time at the Lompoc Valley Center on Wednesday, May 14, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.  Representatives of manufacturing, wholesale and retail goods movement, utilities, construction, agriculture, forestry and equipment dealer operations are especially encouraged to attend this training.  The course provides an overview of the LSI Fleet Regulation, including applicability, requirements currently in effect, future compliance requirements, compliance extensions and enforcement activities.
