Digital Photography Classes Offered in Lompoc and Solvang

Fall classes are offered by Community Education.

AUGUST 7, 2013 -- Aspiring photographers can learn new skills and become proficient using their digital camera by enrolling in digital photography classes offered this fall through Allan Hancock College Community Education.  The instructor is professional photographer Theresa Gingras.

Classes are noncredit and all camera formats are welcome, from 35mm DSLR to compact and point-and-shoot styles.  Classes cover camera menus, shooting modes – including with the use of flash, macro photography and printing.  There is no enrollment fee for these classes; however, a $5 materials fee is required for each.

Digital Photography, Level 1 helps you become proficient with your digital camera and learn what to look for when purchasing one.  This class emphasizes appropriate photographic techniques such as using a flash, shooting in low light and capturing sports, portrait and landscape images.  Students also learn to manipulate images when printing, emailing, archiving and using on the web.  Two class sections are available:

  • Tuesday and Thursday, August 20 – October 10, 6:30 to 8:25 p.m., Solvang Center, Room 2, Course Number21585
  • Wednesday, August 21 – October 9, 5:30 to 9:25 p.m., Lompoc Valley Center,
    Room 2-214, Course Number 21584

Digital Photography, Level 2 is for students who have mastered the basics of digital photography and want to learn more advanced digital camera skills, digital editing and image manipulation.  Two class sections are available:

  • Tuesday and Thursday, October 15 – December 5, 6:30 to 8:25 p.m., Solvang Center, Room 2, Course Number 21588
  • Wednesday, October 16 – December 4, 5:30 to 9:25 p.m., Lompoc Valley Center, Room 2-214, Course Number 21587

An AHC parking permit is required for classes at the Lompoc Valley Center.
