Fall Classes Provide Fun Learning Opportunities for Kids

Sewing, photography and dance classes are offered.

AUGUST 15, 2013 -- Registration continues for fall College for Kids classes in dance, sewing and photography.  Most classes start Sept. 3.

Kids ages 9 – 12 can learn basic sewing skills and how to operate a sewing machine while making their own unique projects in Sewing for Kids on Saturday, Sept. 7 – 21, from 9 to 11:55 a.m. on the Santa Maria campus, Room I-217.  No sewing skills are required.  The fee is $54, plus a materials fee of $20.

Also for young students, learn the basics of how to use a digital camera in Digital Photography for Kids.  Kids ages 10 – 14 become familiar with various settings, camera position, work with two-dimensional design elements such as "framing" a photograph when taking it and learn about photo editing.  Students also learn how to visually communicate a concept or emotion.  This class meets Saturday, Oct. 5 – 26, from 9 to 11:55 a.m. with instructor Theresa Gingras on the Santa Maria campus, Room S-103.  The fee is $72.

Several youth dance classes are also offered this fall for ages ranging from 4 to 18.  Classes include beginning, intermediate, and advanced ballet; hip-hop/jazz; ballet folklórico; and contemporary dance.  Class fees vary.
