Try Teaching! Symposium Can Help You Become a Teacher

This free event is May 1.

APRIL 10, 2013 -- Want to become a teacher?  If so, plan now to attend Allan Hancock College’s annual Try Teaching! Symposium being held Wednesday, May 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Santa Maria campus Student Center (bldg. G).

Steps to becoming a teacher will be presented, along with CBEST information, local degree options and various financial resources.  The symposium will also include a panel of teaching experts from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; University of California, Santa Barbara; Brandman University; and University of La Verne.

A NEW feature at this year’s event is a College Fair from 6 to 7 p.m., offering information about university options as well as educational programs used to assist students who want to become teachers.

Light refreshments will be provided, and a free teaching resource bag will be given to the first 50 people to sign up and attend.
