Cameron Artis-Payne Set to Break School Records in Saturday's Game Against Ventura College

He's already broken the school rushing record.

After running for an impressive 351 yards in the Bulldog’s 49-42 win over Pasadena City College on Saturday, Oct. 20, Cameron Artis-Payne is still leading the state in average rushing yards per game (209.6) and touchdowns (18).  He has been named the Southern California Football Association Northern Conference Player of the week three times and the Santa Barbara County Roundtable Player of the Week twice.

With three games left in the regular season, Artis-Payne has already broken the Allan Hancock College school record for the most rushing yards in a career with 2,831.  He combined last season’s 1,364 yards with 1,467 so far this season to break the previous record of 2,590, held by Redell Windley from the Bulldog’s 1975 and 1976 squads.  Artis-Payne is currently tied with Chris Lester from the 1999 team for the most touchdowns scored in one season and is just 32 yards away from breaking Windley’s record for most rushing yards in one season (1,498).

He has the opportunity to break both of those records this Saturday against the Bulldog’s toughest opponent yet this season, the undefeated Ventura College Pirates.  Ventura is ranked first in the National Conference and second in Southern California with an 8-0 overall and 4-0 conference record.  Hancock is currently second in the conference behind Ventura and eighth in Southern California with a 5-2 overall and 2-1 conference record.

The Bulldogs host the Pirates in a home game at the Righetti High School stadium at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27.
