For the third time in five weeks, Allan Hancock College running back Cameron Artis-Payne has been selected as the Southern California Football Association National Division Northern Conference Player of the Week.

Artis-Payne, shown above carrying the ball, scored three touchdowns in the team’s 50-44 win over Los Angeles Harbor College on Saturday, Oct. 6, bringing his total to 14, more than any other community college football player in the state.  He leads the state in rushing yards per game with an average of 198.2 and averages 8.4 yards per carry.

In addition to conference athlete of the week honors, Artis-Payne was named the Santa Barbara County Roundtable Player of the Week and the ESPN 1280 Radio Player of the Week for his performance against Los Angeles Harbor.  Artis-Payne ran for 206 yards against the Seahawks and ran 84 yards to score a key touchdown with less than two minutes left in the game.

“Cameron is an outstanding individual on and off the field and we’re very proud of his athletic success this season,” said Kim Ensing, associate dean, kinesiology, recreation and athletics.

The Bulldogs are currently 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.  The team is ranked sixth in Southern California and second in the National Division Northern Conference.  Hancock is on the road on Saturday, Oct. 13, against 12th ranked Cerritos College.
