What Are You Doing Saturday? How About Going to College?

38 Saturday-only classes are being offered.

Allan Hancock College has a way for busy people to fit college into the rest of their lives: Saturday-only credit classes.

“We know our students are extremely busy.  Many work and have other commitments.  Saturday classes allow people more flexibility as they plan their college schedules,” said Rebecca Alarcio, the college’s director of Public Affairs and Communications.

Thirty-eight Saturday classes, ranging in credit from one-half unit to 10 units, are being offered next spring at the Santa Maria campus and at the Lompoc Valley Center.  Classes include apprenticeship, art, business, dental assisting, drama, early childhood studies, emergency medical services, environmental technology, fire technology, paralegal studies, winemaking, and more.

Details about these and all other spring classes may be found online at www.hancockcollege.edu; click the Class Search link on the home page.

Alarcio said these classes join a host of other “alternative” offerings the college has developed to better accommodate its students.  Online classes, Fast Track classes lasting eight weeks or less, evening classes and more all provide more options to those pursuing an education.

California residents pay $46 a unit; other minimal fees apply.

Spring registration continues through Jan. 25.  Many classes begin the week of Jan. 22.  Register online via myHancock, accessed from the college website home page.  Click the Student tab, then Register/Add/Drop/Search Classes.
