How do I apply?
To be eligible for Learning Assistance Program services students must:
- Be enrolled in classes at Allan Hancock College and
- Have a verifiable disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. The
disability must impose educational or functional limitations in the college setting.
To apply for services:
Turn in the completed intake packet to the Learning Assistance Program office in building
A2 on the first floor.
Schedule an intake appointment with the Learning Assistance Program by calling 805-922-6966
ext. 3274 or stopping by our office.
- Complete one of the following intake packet which includes a consent form.

"Deciding to go back to school to learn English and obtain my GED has been one of the most important decisions I ever made. My credit ESL instructors guided and helped me to adjust to my new life as a student. They understood me as a student and as a person. Being a full-time worker, a full-time student, and a mother of three was not easy, but my instructors encouraged me to keep going. They spent time with me revising my writing and giving me feedback to improve my English, even after class time. They made me feel welcome and proud of being a student later in life.
