What is Distance Learning

Distance education means instruction in which the instructor and student are separated by distance and interact through the assistance of technology.  Distance Learning provides educational opportunities that are not limited to the time and space constraints of traditional classes.

Online instructors utilize a wide variety of tools such as online lectures, assignments, tests, discussion forums, and streaming video.  Our online courses are offered online through a course learning management system (CMS) called Canvas. Instructors may also use additional software and websites, depending on the course. Details and special requirements for each course can be found by clicking the CRN link on the online Class Schedule Search web page.

Biology Major/Student Trustee

"Staying local and coming to Allan Hancock College has been rewarding in so many ways. I am able to fulfill all my core courses like chemistry and biology to transfer to a four-year university. I have also become active on campus as a student trustee on the Allan Hancock College Board of Trustee. My time on campus has allowed me to develop my voice, as well as a plan for my future."
