Program Prerequisites

Entrance Requirements for all Nursing Programs
- Students must be age 18 (required by California Codes - Business and Professions Code Section 2069-2071)
- Complete Background Check and Drug Screening (required by clinical agencies for placement) - Instructions are included with acceptance packets.
- Current Healthcare Provider CPR (American Heart Association or American Red Cross ONLY)
- Complete Health Physical (required by clinical agencies for placement) - The physical form is included in the acceptance packet.
- Immunization Recordswhich includes the following immunization, positive titers and/or boosters
- Tuberculin skin test required prior to entering the program. Positive PPD requires a standard negative chest film with medical consultation. Standard chest x-ray is recommended if there is any history of previous chest disease.
- Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus Toxoid (DPT)
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Hepatitis B Vaccination Series
- Flu Vaccine - Required by facilities during flu season
Certified Nursing Assisting/Acute Care Aide Program Pre-Reqs.
(Application Period: Spring Semester: October 1-November 1 Fall Semester: May 1-June 1)- Completion of English 101 with a grade of C or better, or be currently enrolled at time of application.
Licensed Vocational Nursing Program Pre-Reqs.
(Application Period: April 1-June 30, annually)- Students must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Possess a current California CNA certification or Psychiatric Technician License
- Must have completed the following courses or equivalent with a grade of C or better:
- English 101
- Math 331 - Algebra II
- Psychology 101
- Biology 124 - Anatomy
- Biology 125 - Physiology
Registered Nursing Program Pre-Reqs.
(Application Period: April 1-June 30, annually)- Students must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Possess a current California Licensed Vocational Nursing License
- Must have completed the following courses or equivalent with a grade of C or better:
- English 101
- Math 331 - Algebra II
- Psychology 101
- Biology 124 - Anatomy
- Biology 125 - Physiology
- Biology 128 - Microbiology
Meet Merit Based Admission Criteria - Screening of applications will include looking at overall GPA, Number of Science Repetitions (Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology), and score obtained on the Merit Based Admissions Test.
