“Audition Techniques/The Business of Being an Actor” is taught by PCPA's Casting Director.
During this course a student supported Actors Co-op brings in 15-20 artistic directors
and casting directors to audition students for internships and employment as they
leave the program. Numbers of students each year also transfer to prestigious BFA
programs around the country, leaving PCPA with over 70 units of transferable credit.
PCPA also offers a summer company and acting internship program.
The immersive technical training with professional crafts persons along with the introduction
of skills and techniques in stage management, scenic design artistry, music directing/conducting,
carpentry, lighting, costume design, properties, and sound serve students as they
head into a competitive marketplace. Internships in theatrical production are offered as an opportunity to enhance existing skills
and add to a portfolio/resume through the participation and mentorship in a specific
area of professional technical theatre production such as:

"I came from Mexico at age17, which meant I not only had to learn English at a High School level, but had to prepare for college-level courses. During my first semesters at AHC I enrolled in ESL, and made extensive use of their writing lab, which I believe was critical in my transition to transfer level classes. Engineering is a difficult major on its own, but learning all those concepts and terminology while just getting out of ESL classes was a challenge. AHC professors, counselors and programs were key to my success."
